We had no heating or hot water over the Easter break - never good! Smartheat were fast and efficient in helping us to replace our old boiler. Everyone who came to the house was polite and easy to talk to and went above and beyond - down to making sure everything looked good on the outside too!

Had my gas boiler serviced and was really impressed with the experience. The engineer was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. They worked efficiently and made sure everything was running safely before leaving. Great service overall???would definitely recommend!
Reviews from Google · 24 Mar 2026Mike and Luke from Smartheat power flushed our ancient central heating system which is in a large Old Rectory and had not been done for 20 years. The oil fired boiler had developed a knocking sound every few minutes and I had been advised that this "kettling" could be caused by several possible factors but that sludge in the radiators could be a cause. Delighted to report that the knock has disappeared and every one of the 27 radiators is now clean and heats up. Mike and Luke were very professional and worked hard in the two days that it took to do a proper powerflush and then rebalance the system. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
Reviews from Google · 20 Mar 2026Happy Customer. I changed to Smartheat as I wasn't happy with my last Boiler service. They turned up on time and I was very impressed with how thorough they were, plus polite and informative leaving no mess. They even sent photos of the service carried out. I will definitely be using them again.
Reviews from Google · 27 Feb 2026SHORT SUMMARY: Disastrous boiler service. Left our home coated in a fine, oily black soot that caused respiratory issues and severe headaches, requiring a doctor???s visit. The engineer claimed there were "no problems" and left us without heating for 24 hours. Smart Heat has since been dismissive, offering excuses rather than accountability for the mess and health risks. Full details of their insulting responses below. FULL REVIEW: Severe Soot Contamination and Lack of Accountability We left a key for the engineer to service our boiler while we were at work, with strict instructions to keep internal doors closed for our pets' safety. Fortunately, he followed this; otherwise, the oily soot he released would have coated the entire house. When I returned, the house smelled heavily of burnt oil. The engineer was still in his van. I asked if there were any issues; he replied "no problems" other than a regulation sticker. He must have known something was wrong from the smell alone. The soot was a fine, dry, oily black film???initially hard to see until touched. The entire bathroom was coated. Every surface, shelf, and tap wiped away thick black soot. Our towels, toothbrushes, and windowsills were affected. More alarmingly, the fumes gave my wife a severe headache, requiring a doctor???s visit. We were also left without heating for 24 hours as the engineer failed to check if the radiators were warming before leaving. Despite reporting this to the letting agent with photos immediately, I heard nothing for a month. When I finally challenged Smart Heat (SH) on how a professional could trigger such a discharge, tell a tenant, ???No problems," and drive away, their response was dismissive. THE EXCHANGE AFTER INITIAL COMPLAINT: SH: Access on the day was limited to the boiler cupboard, with the bathroom tap briefly used. Me: Access was limited at the kitchen door to keep cats safe (which luckily restricted the soot). The bathroom door was wide open during the service, allowing a cloud of particles to coat the entire room. The number of times he entered the room is irrelevant; the soot photographed and videoed proves the particles reached every surface. To suggest I???m making this up is an insult. SH: The boiler was found to contain a significant amount of internal soot. Me: If it was "significant," why was it not addressed in the 2025 service or remedial work? What caused this sudden excessive build-up, and has the actual issue been fixed? SH: When cleaning heavily sooted boilers, some fine particles can become airborne despite best practice. Me: If "best practice" involves releasing airborne soot, why did the engineer claim, "no problems"? There was no warning about particles, mess, or potential respiratory issues/headaches. Why didn't he open the front door or windows to dissipate the fumes? SH: No visible residue was present when the engineer left; anything noticeably left would have been cleaned. Me: I have video evidence of surfaces appearing clear until touched, revealing jet-black smudges. The soot was only discovered when the toilet lid showed black finger marks. Nothing external to the boiler was cleaned. To suggest otherwise is a blatant disregard for the facts. SH: The carbon monoxide alarm is operational; no safety concerns were identified. Me: A CO alarm does not detect soot particle inhalation. My wife investigated the health risks of these particles. Smart Heat remains dismissive of these genuine health concerns. Summary: I am struggling to understand how a "professional" company can leave a home in this state, ignore the tenant???s health, and then provide a list of pointless excuses rather than an apology. Avoid.
