We have just completed a six-month extensive renovation project in Sevenoaks with J A Maxwell & Son. This included a complete stripping of the interior of the house, various internal structural works to form a new open plan kitchen-diner, new utility and shower room as well as a garage conversion. From the very first meeting back in October, we were confident that Graham understood our vision. He took the time to provide practical and valuable advice and guidance on how this could be achieved, including providing a clear and reasonable quotation against our many individual deliverables. Graham’s experience, kind and gentle manner, and visits almost every single day of the works, coupled with Ross’s updates and checking we were happy, meant that the whole project progressed smoothly from start to finish. Issues are inevitable on a project of this scale and duration but any that did arise were relatively minor in the grand scheme of things and were dealt with quickly by the team to ensure minimal delays to the schedule and notably, no impact on the budget. Having hired other builders in the past, JA Maxwell & Son really do differentiate themselves through their reliability, patience and dedication to their client – nothing was too much trouble for them. Every single team member was polite and friendly and a pleasure to have around. We are delighted with the end result. The 1970s home that hadn’t been touched for nearly fifty years has been completely transformed and ready to house a new family. We couldn’t recommend JA Maxwell & Son more highly, and they will certainly be our go-to builders for any projects in the future.

We hired Graham and his team earlier this year to create an open plan kitchen / diner using the existing space. From the very first meeting, we were hugely impressed and immediately filled with confidence. Having never done a project like this before, Graham offered advice and guidance throughout the process, and was incredibly patient with us from start to finish. The team was friendly, polite and unobtrusive, making the whole project amazingly smooth and hassle free. They took the time to discuss decisions with us, keeping us informed and updated every step of the way. Graham himself also visited almost every day to oversee, chat things through and ensure we were happy. With a baby due this Summer, we were concerned about timings and disruption, but the team met their expected timeframes perfectly (6-7 weeks) despite there being bank holidays and some uncontrollable delays during that time. They tidied every evening before leaving and went above and beyond to be considerate and helpful. We are so, so pleased with the final result and feel it's transformed the space in our house for the better. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend JA Maxwell & Son, and will certainly be using them again for any future projects.

From the first meeting with Graham to the finished product ... The builders were amazing at every point. Gary and Dan spent a week in our house completing 2 separate jobs. Knocking through our living room into the dining room and moving a wall in the kitchen They were respectful, trustworthy and gave any advice we asked for to ensure we had the best outcome. Their work was impeccable and we are so happy with the finished product, at any point we had a question there was always someone to ask including ... who was always available over text to ease worries and answer questions. Would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone who asks and will definitely be using them again in the future.

We recently worked with J A Maxwell & Son for loft boarding. Although a relatively small job, they were quick to organise for a site visit and we really appreciated their advice on how we could get the job done properly without over-spending. We went ahead with their quote which was more cost effective than others we had received. The team worked to schedule the work in around our needs and kept me informed at all times. The builders carrying out the works were polite, friendly and extremely efficient, completing the job in just a few hours and leaving everything clean and tidy. Based on the great experience we had, we would highly recommend J A Maxwell & Son for any residential building works, and will not hesitate to approach them for larger projects in the future.

We removed a wall in our 1930s house to open up our kitchen to the dining room at the beginning of the year. We’re delighted with the results. Graham and his team completed a range of jobs including installing an RSJ, fitting a new kitchen, plastering, decorating… Graham communicated very well making the process straightforward. The fees were reasonable and the team were tidy. I highly recommend.
