The project was to square off our L-shaped house and create a new downstairs utility, loo and cupboard, and upstairs bedroom; knock the old utility and bathroom through to the kitchen space, and add a new kitchen and bifold doors. Because of the way our roof is we decided that the extension should look like a modern box added to the existing house rather than have an extension that fully blended in. All to be done over winter and with us living in the house. I wish I could give 4.5/5. SB managed the build extremely well, including all the necessary trades. The tradesmen were excellent, with quality, pride and perfection being very obvious. They also provided us with new ideas/options for minor changes i.e. changing the internal lights. The project management was slick, and demonstrated a good understanding of the industry including delivery times and prices. A few minor communication difficulties but nothing that wasnt easily overcome. The price was as good as other quotes and the work was completed within budget. I highly recommend SB Construction.

We couldn't recommend Sam and his team more highly. At every stage we were kept informed, the price quoted is the price paid, and amazing quality or workmanship. The team were so tidy during the process, which was even commented on by our neighbours, which we appreciated as we stayed living in the house whilst they transformed 5 smaller rooms into 1 large family room that we haven't stopped using since

I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. From the start, I found the owner, Sam, to be very arrogant and difficult to deal with. I later discovered that he isn’t actually a builder by trade, but originally a plasterer who now acts as more of a manager. He hires other tradesmen to do the work while charging premium rates, which I wish I had known beforehand. The work itself was OK, but nothing special — certainly not the “super-premium finish” promoted on their social media. In hindsight, I should have gone with another builder I had spoken to, even if it meant waiting longer, as it would have been substantially cheaper. I believe I paid around 35-40% more than what a builder doing the work directly would have charged. The project also dragged on far longer than expected, as there were long gaps between stages when Sam and his team were clearly juggling other jobs. I had expected a continuous build, but instead there were frustrating delays of several weeks at a time. To be fair, the job did get completed and the end result was acceptable. However, the whole process left a bad taste in my mouth, mainly due to Sam’s attitude and the inflated costs. My advice: if you choose this company, expect to pay a premium for an average finish, with delays along the way. The job will get done, but you’ll be funding Sam’s lifestyle more than paying for true craftsmanship, ontop of that I have since learned he has a bad reputation amongst some other trades such as electricians, plumbers and tilers not being paid for work they did for Sam but I have to be fair and say this is hearsay from a local merchant and there are two sides to a story. I was trying between 2 and 3 stars I think 2.5/5 is about fair.

From the first consultation to the final result Sam and his team carried out exemplary work on our large house extension. We were especially impressed with the standard of brickwork in the build. Simon and Sam were happy to adapt and correct as different situations arose, without any hassle. The whole team were a pleasure to have in our home.

SB Construction completed a garage conversion on our home. It was done to a very high standard and the team were a pleasure to have around, nothing was too much trouble. We are very happy with the conversion. They removed the garage door and inserted a window in its place, I had reservations re the matching of the bricks but they matched the bricks perfectly. You would never know that it used to be the garage when looking at the property from the outside. They were efficient and very reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again for any other work that I needed doing
