JRB builds completed a kitchen renovation for us which included opening up into the dining room and blocking up a backdoor that was in the kitchen to create a new kitchen diner space, as well as new flooring and skirting throughout. Although relatively straightforward, I decided I needed this done when I was 7 months pregnant so the timescales were really tight. From the outset James was really upfront with what could be achieved, his communication was great and he moved things along really quickly. He managed to coordinate all the various different independent trades really well, often at very short notice which I think is a testiment to the good working relationships he has with them. All of the JRB team we had working at our house were lovely and very considerate. Always cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. Despite the speed of work, the quality was not compromised. He said at the start he would get everything done in time for my due date and he did and we now have a lovely new kitchen and living space to enjoy as a family. Would definitely recommend and will 100% be using JRB again for the next project (hopefully won't be heavily pregnant next time though 😊).

James and the team at JRB BUILDS were fantastic from start to finish. They transformed three downstairs rooms into a stunning kitchen‑diner, handled all structural work, and managed every trade professionally. Our front extension, new downstairs toilet, and multiple additional features were all completed on time, on budget, and fully signed off by building control. We were so impressed that they’re now completing our patio and garden landscaping. We’re absolutely delighted with the results and highly recommend JRB BUILDS.

JRB converted part of our garage to an office/studio and I can't recommend James and the team more highly. James was incredibly communicative throughout and we are very pleased with the standard of work. They were very accommodating with changes throughout the project, kept the site clean and tidy, and completed everything within the time they suggested.

We used JRB Builds to lay a patio and make improvements to our garden, including creating a low brick wall and a couple of planters. We were really impressed with James and his team - communication was great, the work was carried out efficiently and to a very high standard, and they came up with some good ideas for dealing with a couple of tricky areas. On top of that, they were a really nice bunch of people! We will definitely use JRB Builds for future works and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We’ve recently completed a garage conversion and remodelling of the ground floor with Jamie and the team at JRB Builds, we had an extremely positive experience and honestly couldn’t recommend them more highly. From the start Jamie communicated really well and kept us in the loop at every stage of the build. By the end of the project the guys genuinely felt like part of the family. Even though we made a few changes along the way, the project still came in on budget which we really appreciated. Whenever anything unexpected came up, the team were always able to find practical and creative solutions rather than letting things turn into a problem. The kitchen supplied by Howdens looks amazing and is working really well for us as a family. The layout of the house and the way we use it has improved massively - we now have an office where the old kitchen used to be, and a much more practical utility room after repurposing an adjoining hallway cupboard. JRB also created some bespoke carpentry magic for us, including adjustments to a cabinet to hide the boiler and water softener, custom shelving and a made to measure window seat, all finished to a really high standard. The timber work in the vaulted ceiling in particular was craftsmanship of the highest standard. They also installed a new engineered wood floor throughout the ground floor and completed all the painting and decorating, which has pulled the whole project together. JRB worked well with other trades, they coordinated seamlessly with our usual plumber Warmtouch and introduced the electrician team, Al Platten Electrics, who also worked hard to keep us on schedule with first and second fixes. Jamie and the team communicated with our architect, structural engineer and Uttlesford building control, so we didn't need to worry about anything from a project management perspective. Something that really stood out was how respectful they were throughout the build. Many of our neighbours have since commented on how tidy they kept the site and how polite and considerate they were when parking and coordinating deliveries. The team were reliable throughout and always went above and beyond - including organising the removal of waste and helping us move furniture into temporary storage while the work was underway. We’re absolutely blown away with the end result and would happily recommend JRB to anyone looking for a friendly local builder they can trust. If you’re planning a renovation project or garage conversion in the Saffron Walden or wider Uttlesford area, Jamie and the team are genuine, honest, hardworking lads who will not let you down.
