   I waited two whole years for two alcove cabinet bookshelves from Davies and Foster. I ordered them in the summer of 2023. When placing my order, I was informed there was an 8 month wait. Sarah and Mark came out, measured up, sent me the drawings, and accepted 70% of the project money. I was given rough timescales over and over again. They told me they???d try to get the project ready and fit by Christmas of 2024, then ???unfortunately??? had to push me back until after Christmas. I watched my name stay static on the project board, and other customers progress though. They even set up an Etsy shop during this time, selling furniture. All the while I waited with exposed wires running up my wall, and an electric meter/fuse box on display in my living room for two whole years. I was then told timescales of Easter 2025, this didn???t get booked in either. I finally received a definitive date for July 2025. I received a phone call from Sarah a week before, extremely upset saying they couldn???t meet the deadline again. She said my cabinets are sat there unsprayed, unfinished. She didn???t want to mess me around any further, as she could tell that I was beginning to become frustrated and ???it???s not worth it.??? (I???m unsure what that meant) I got a full refund and apology, and was lead to believe that the company is taking time away from bigger projects, due to unforeseen family matters. I accepted this amicably and wished them well, Sarah thanking me for how well I took the news. However, they are still posting stories on their instagram of very large scale projects they are currently working on, and new employees are being hired, despite saying they were only focusing on small furniture projects, with no deadline to when Mark would be back working in the warehouse. I now don???t know what to believe, as there was a myriad of excuses regarding health scares, to other family members being unwell, that lead me to feel really sorry for these guys. The evidence on their socials is damning, I believe they prioritise projects based on the most revenue, and location, and make excuses to their in comparison smaller project customers. Looks like a bigger project was more important than my cabinets, and I wasted two years of my life waiting for them, and being out of pocket too. They???ve since removed their live project board. I wouldn???t recommend Davies and foster. They wasted my time, and the personal excuses just show a lack of professionalism and accountability for their poor management of projects and customer service. 4 weeks after cancellation, I now have two beautiful alcove cabinet/bookshelves built by a local business in my home town of St Helen???s, called leech bedrooms. The difference between their professionalism, immediate booking dates, no hidden extra fees, and proficiency, is outstanding. Leech???s lads even came back the next day to correct a skirting board in another room, free of charge. Davies and foster would charge you for the style of a door handle, whereas these guys included it all in the price and would do anything to help you on the day! They mount mirrors and TV???s free of charge too! I saved myself ??1,000 on my project, and I can finally continue with the other projects in my home after being at an absolutely standstill for two years of my life. If you???re planning a project through these guys, make sure you get definite lead times and a fitting date from the start. That???s how it should be done! Also air with caution and expect your project to be cancelled on a whim, if it doesn???t generate enough revenue for them compared to their other projects. Just very disappointing. There are other guys out there just as good who can get the same job done in just 4 weeks!!

   We spent quite a long time looking for a company that would be able to make an alcove cabinet we really loved, and had design consultations with a couple of other places before we found Davies and Foster. Mark and Sarah really listened to what we thought we wanted, made some suggestions that we hadn???t thought of, and designed something even better than we???d imagined. On the fitting day we really appreciated all the time and care taken to make everything look perfect, down to touching up a bit of paint on the wall. The cabinet is really high quality and looks amazing - we couldn???t be happier with it!

   Would recommend to anyone, the whole process from idea, to planning, to design and build then finally onto fitting was superb. I was kept up to speed with progress and timelines both by call and email. Additionally, the processing of payments for the work was explained throughout too. The finished furniture is exactly what I wanted and is to such a high standard too. Sarah and Mark were always approachable and friendly and made sure that the furniture fitted was to the exact design and requirements.
