An exceptional home builder that genuinely cares about quality over speed.

The site manager had an incredible eye for detail, ensuring that even the trickiest design features were executed perfectly without blowing out our budget.

Rotten Thatch Roof Replaced with Tiles , Major Structural Changes, Complete Replacement of Plumbing, Electrical and Heating Systems, Groundworks Etc... This was a complex project that required co-ordination between Birch, UK Power Networks, E.ON, Octopus, Groundwork Contractors, Architects, Structural Engineers, Council Planning, Scaffolders, ,Builders, Roofers, Lead works, Electricians, Brickies, Plumbers, Painters, Furnishers, a Multitude of Specialist Craftsmen and ourselves over several months April-November 2024 We replaced a 50-year-old decrepit thatch with modern pantile roof, embedded solar panels, 3-phase electricity supply and batteries. Most of our upstairs rooms were doubled in size by taking the roof out to the lower storey wall line. Soon after work commenced we discovered that there were major structural anomalies in the roof structure that needed to be dealt with. Fortunately we had been advised to put a full top-hat over the house so work continued every day despite atrocious weather. We could have been delayed a couple of months without Barke scaffolding's brilliant structure. Ben Allen personally oversaw the whole project backed up by Richard and Gary at base. It has been an absolute delight to witness the amazing craftsman that turned out along the way. Birch wasn't the cheapest quote but we are certain that it was by far the best value in terms of final product and minimum hassle - despite the occasional nightmare like Gledhills brand new boiler bursting a seam and flooding half the house. Our particular thanks to Martin and Frankie the two carpenters who were onsite every day for 5 months. Their work output was phenomenal and their skills a joy to behold. In submitting a 5-star review for Birch it is worth mentioning the frustrations and pleasures of dealing with UKPN (1-star), E.ON (1-star), Planning (2-star), Impact Services (2-star), our own Structural Engineer - should have gone with theirs (3-star), Christian Mountney Architect (5-star), Barke Scaffolding (5-star), Kent Skips (5-star), Catton Windows (5-star), East Coast Roofing (5-star), Darren Gipson Plumbers (5-star), Octopus (5-star), Knights Paving (5-star), JHD Interiors (5-star), Hammond Electricians (6-star!) and Tim the Painter (6-star). Ben Allen, with his wide ranging network of skilled traders put heart and soul into their business. From the first handshake, they guide, inform and are easily contactable for advice on dealing with unexpected situations. We appreciated the comprehensive costings and time-line spreadshhet with incremental payments on completion of the quoted works. The cost of this massive renovation has exceeded ??400,000. We now have a luxury home that will see us out. Just goes to prove how much it costs to become "Carbon Neutral" ;) I will add photos in due course. It is a beautiful job. Thank you!! Great Value.

Totally dishonest company. Go out of their way to stitch up all that they deal with. Be aware. Be careful. Liars one and all !! Legally very aggressive and manipulative at any opportunity. I would give them a wide birth !!

The Birch Group have completed the build of our new home. From start to finish they have been exceptional in their approach, positive attitude and can-do attitude. Their input into the detail of the house means that our dream home is actually beyond anything we could have expected. We can't recommend them enough!
