We have nothing but praise for Building Devon. We relied on their experience and knowledge in the selection of an architect. We made minor revisions to his plans then Barry provided a detailed quotation of costs. This showed us they had considered everything the work entailed, so there were no unexpected costs. Jake, the on-site project manager, was personable, professional, excellent at communicating with us and the tradesmen working with him. When a few minor changes needed to be made e.g. moving a doorway, these were accommodated without drama. Jake liaised with Building Control and the structural engineer. Jake also managed the tradesmen we had used on earlier phases of the project. Building Devon showed care for the parts of the house they needed to pass through to get to where they were working, they were conscientious in clearing up after themselves. These qualities made having the workmen in the house as easy as it could be for the eighteen weeks they were here. There was only one issue that arose after the work was completed. The plastic membrane for the insulation envelope in the two gables, came loose. It had been installed as specified on the plans, but extra battens were added to hold the membrane securely. In terms of billing, Anne set out what needed to be paid for and when. So this avoided us to plan our finances. In conclusion, we found everyone at Building Devon proficient, personable and good communicators. Building Devon insulated the top floor of our house thereby making: four bedrooms, two shower rooms, a sitting room and an open-plan work-space. We did the decorating ourselves. We are therefore intimately acquainted with every surface, wall, architrave and door, so we can see the quality of their workmanship right down to the last detail.

We commissioned Building Devon to build a substantial extension to our cottage near Whitestone. We cannot recommend Barry and his team highly enough. The work was completed within 12 months despite difficult access to the site and the wettest year on record. Barry demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the project throughout and had a fine attention to detail. He was always very responsive to our ideas and suggested a number of cost-savings . He had a good and valuable relationship with all the sub-contractors and managed them extremely efficiently. The workforce was always considerate and always left the site tidy.

It was a fantastic experience working with Building Devon, who we selected following a tendering process. Based on the quality of the returned tender documents, we decided to commission them to renovate our 18C listed barn to expand our wedding venue. The project had strict timeframes and had to be completed over a period six months, between October 2020 and April 2021, ready for the start of the new wedding season. We can honestly say that they exceeded our expectations! Barry and his team were amazing! The quality of their work, attention to detail, can-do attitude, problem solving skills and willingness to go extra mile every single time, made it the most relaxing building experience we have ever embarked on. We are very happy with the results and can???t recommend these guys enough! We will definitely work with them again on future projects. Thank you, Barry and the team, for everything that you have done for us! Jo and Matt, the owners of Brickhouse Vineyard
