I do not normally write reviews, but after completing a major loft conversion and renovation project with Ambrose and his team, I felt it was important to share our experience honestly and fairly. Overall, we are extremely happy with both the final result and the way the entire process was handled. What makes Ambrose stand out is that he genuinely cares about both the quality of the build and how people actually live in the space day to day. He takes time to explain why he asks certain questions and gives practical advice based on real-life usability, which proved incredibly valuable throughout our project. The quality of the workmanship is excellent. We were especially impressed by how efficiently and professionally the main structural work was carried out. One of our biggest concerns was dust, mess and disruption during the knock-through stages, particularly with children and pets at home, but the team kept everything remarkably tidy and treated our house and belongings with real care and respect. The whole team — including electricians, plumbers and decorators — worked very well together and also coordinated professionally with third parties we brought in ourselves. Everyone was friendly, approachable and respectful. Their work ethic also deserves special mention. The team consistently arrived early, worked long hours and were extremely hardworking throughout the project. There was a clear sense of pride in their work and a focus on getting things done properly rather than rushing. Communication was another strong point. Ambrose was responsive, transparent and straightforward throughout. Any additional works or costs were always discussed and agreed upfront, and we never felt surprised financially. He also regularly kept us updated with messages, photos and videos, often outside normal working hours, which gave us a lot of reassurance during stressful periods. Importantly, Ambrose stands behind his work. Like most large renovation projects, the final snagging and last 5% took longer than we hoped at times, and clearer scheduling visibility towards the end would have helped. However, feedback was always listened to professionally, issues were never ignored, and Ambrose consistently tried to resolve things properly rather than cutting corners. What also stood out was Ambrose’s calm, respectful and professional manner — not only with customers, but also with his own team. It is obvious he values teamwork and takes pride in the people working alongside him, which creates a very positive atmosphere on site. No major building project is ever completely stress-free, but overall our experience was overwhelmingly positive and we are very pleased with the outcome. We would highly recommend Ambrose to anyone considering a loft conversion or major home project. It is very rare to find someone in this trade who combines workmanship, communication, accountability and genuine customer care in the way Ambrose does.

Ambrose and his team have just completed a full renovation and kitchen extension on my home, and I'm really pleased with the final finish. I didn't live at the property during the reno, but communication during the whole process was really easy and I was informed about each step. Ambrose was always contactable to update you or answer any questions. I would highly recommend the team as they truly care about their clients and the work they carry out.

We recently completed an extension and front porch after seeing a job they did for one of my neighbours and I have to say that I’m really pleased with the work and overall experience. Ambrose and the team (Anton and the ground team, John, Vasile, Arik, Emil - and everyone else I can't recall their names) were very professional, reliable, and communicated clearly throughout the project. The quality of workmanship was very good and the job was completed to a good standard. The pictures (before and after) says it all. What really stood out was Ambrose's honesty and willingness to help, going over and beyond the initial brief to get the job and even more to keep the client satisfied. I found them easy to work with, respectful of the property, and kept things tidy as much as possible. I would happily recommend the team to anyone looking for a trustworthy and skilled builder, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future.

I think the photos speak for themselves but Ambrose and his team have created a beautiful new bathroom and utility for my family. They have worked meticulously, humouring my precision along the way (sorry, not sorry. I am what am 😊) to make my vision a reality. The limits of my late 1800's Victorian semi means a downstairs-behind the kitchen bathroom. The former was a cold, damp space that you really didn't want to spend anytime longer than necessary, and poor design meant it had deteriorated over the years beyond repair. It was demolished (yay) and rebuilt from scratch and what result. We now have a luxurious space to spend hours in and cause a queue for the loo! We extended as much as Greenwich council would allow to include a utility. A small project but with huge impact to our family life. I'm so grateful to HBBltd, they were with us this summer but this has been 2 years in the planning since I bought the property in 2023 and had been given the run around by other companies. Ambrose delivered on his promise and I'm looking forward having the external landscape finessed next year. We recently had a hip-to-gable loft conversion with a rear dormer completed by Harlow Barrington, adding two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a new heating and hot water system. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Ambrose and his team were professional, friendly, and clearly skilled at what they do. The project was completed in just 12 weeks, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Throughout the build, Ambrose and his team went above and beyond. We continued living and working in the house during the works (with 2 small children) and they were incredibly considerate, working around our needs without any issues. Communication was excellent, with regular updates, photos, and videos that kept us fully informed. When challenges came up, the team handled them efficiently and transparently. They always presented us with options, took the time to explain them, and never pressured us into making quick decisions. Even when our choices meant more work for the team, they were more than happy to accommodate. It’s been a fantastic experience, and the loft conversion has completely transformed our home. We’re so pleased with the quality of the work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Harlow Barrington.
