I engaged Will and his team for a specialist brickwork survey. They were swift, thoroughly professional, and took time to walk me through the report and their conclusions. You might find cheaper but you won???t find more expert or thorough.

Excellent service from Ilkley Brickwork. They stabilised my retaining garden wall and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. Communication was excellent throughout, including a WhatsApp group that kept me updated every step of the way. They booked me in quickly, were reasonably priced, and the team on site were friendly and professional. The work was completed efficiently, left very tidy, and I???m really pleased with the result. Highly recommended. Thanks guys!
Reviews from Google · 11 Jun 2026TLDR: The quality of the work is good enough, the lads are a good laugh but the prices are steep and what I can only assume is either a lack of knowledge around building regs or an attitude of "just get on with it" will do you no favours as a homeowner if you're selling down the line. Be sure to fetch multiple quotes from various builders and ensure you consider the structural elements yourself or with a structural engineer. Review: I used the services of Ilkley Brickwork several months ago. What should've been a red flag was the fact they charged ??500 for a call-out which was then supposed to be used as a deposit to fund some of the works. All in all I paid ??5K (excl VAT and incl the ??500) for a trench dig (which took 1 day by hand, no machinery) to inspect for any water ingress at the foundation as well as repointing patch work (4 days) that covered the ground floor of a semi-detached 3 bed property. The trench dig has introduced a low spot for rain to pool so I'll have to pull up the paving slabs, top up the soil and the repoint. Another job that was scheduled at that time was to cut access openings in the crawlspace sleeper walls and to support the load with lintels. I didn't have a structural engineer out at that point but Ilkley Brickwork were adamant that the walls weren't load bearing (thus didn't need acrow props or support) and it seemed to come as a surprise that all lintel works require building notice. The building notice requirement is something I didn't know either at the time but figured a builder would. I scrapped that part of the job, booked a structural engineer (who confirmed that one of the walls would absolutely require acrow props), went through the council for approval and picked up the lintels (conforming to the structural specification) to avoid any markups. Then I reached out to Ilkley Brickwork again for a quotation and they returned with a quote of ??1,566 (excl VAT) whilst being unable to state how many days would be involved, instead opting for a very corporate style response that I'd expect in a business meeting. All other local builders in the area have quoted around ??800 (excl VAT) with the work taking between 1-2 days (depending on how long for mortar to dry).
